The Hospitality Association of Zambia (HCAZ) actively engages in advocacy, training, and health initiatives within the tourism and hospitality industry, including tax-exempt status recognitions, contributions to education, and partnership programs for skill development and health policy implementations, demonstrating leadership and support to enhance industry standards and member capabilities.
a) HCAZ was requested to make a written submission to the Tourism Task Force at State House, regarding its concerns and recommendations of the Hospitality Industry (details of the submission is available at the Secretariat);
b) ZRA has classified HCAZ as a charitable institution under Section 41 on the Income Tax Act, Chapter 323 of the Laws of Zambia, making any donation to HCAZ Tax Exempt.
c) HCAZ is the largest in terms of membership under the Tourism Council of Zambia;
d) HCAZ contributes to the Best Student prize for Tourism & Travel Operations at The Hotel and Tourism Training Institution (HTTI);
e) 2006 - 2009 HCAZ partnered with USAID/MATEP (Market Access Trade and Enabling Policies Project) in conducting training for its members in Customer care, marketing and other hotel related skills. This training program covered all nine provinces in Zambia and a total of 1500 hotel staff benefited
f) HCAZ has appeared before several parliamentary Committees on matters pertaining to the tourism andhospitality industry, labor, commerce and trade. We annually make submissions on the National budget to the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
g) HCAZ, in partnership with USAID/MATEP, have launched
a HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy frame work and it is in the
implementation phase. HCAZ will have a full time
national focal person on HIV/AIDS under the sponsorship
of USAID-MATEP
h) 2006 – 2008 HCAZ under the auspice of USAID-MATEP conducted HIV/AIDS training for trainers countrywide.
i) HCAZ has produced a high-quality Tourism and Hospitality Guide for Zambia and incorporates a directory of the members. This is annual publication
